Horse Shoe Bend
Horseshoe Bend is a striking natural landmark located near the town of Page in northern Arizona, USA. It is part of the Glen Canyon National Recreation Area and has become one of the most photographed locations in the American Southwest.
Historical Background:
Geological Formation: Horseshoe Bend is a meander in the Colorado River that forms a nearly circular loop, resembling a horseshoe shape. It was formed over millions of years as the river eroded the surrounding sandstone, creating the deep, sweeping curve that defines the site today. The process that shaped Horseshoe Bend began around 5 to 6 million years ago during the late Miocene to early Pliocene epochs.
